WEBSITE POLICIES
Saint Mary’s Catholic Church, Johnson City, TN encourages participation in the expansion of their presence on the World Wide Web. Participation can be in the form of contributions to Web pages, in concert with the Webmaster and/or members of the Technology Committee who shall exercise overall responsibility for the content and format of the Saint Mary’s Church and School Web Pages
Saint Mary’s Policy on Web Pages
The Saint Mary’s Technology Committee has a standard design style for all official Church Web pages. The reason for the standard design style is that each page on the websites can be reached directly through search engines and links from other sites. Using a standard design and navigation structure at all levels of the site ensures that users have a full-featured set of navigational aids with which to find their desired content. This standardization also guarantees that all Saint Mary’s Pages will meet at least the basic accessibility standards set by the W3C (www.w3c.org).
Note that the design standard encouraged us to create accessible pages, and the Webmaster is available for consultation on this and any other subject related to "best practices" Internet design
Security Policy
We have put in place safeguards to: review the information published online, prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the appropriate use of information. This policy is subject to change at any time, so please check back occasionally.
Privacy Policy
We only ask you for personal data when we need to respond to you. Generally this information is requested when you send us an e-mail or choose to respond to an online survey on the site. We do not store names, generate lists, or distribute the information to other parties. All individuals’ names listed on the Website have consented to their publication. Saint Mary’s Catholic Community strictly protects the security of your personal information. We carefully protect your data from loss, misuse, unauthorized access or disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Certain pages require a password to view the content. This policy is subject to change at any time, so please check back occasionally.

Website Publication Procedure:
I. Submitting for publication on the site:
1. Draft the information within a MSWord document.
2. For publication, submit the document to the website.
3. The Webmaster contact will forward the documents to either a member of the parish Technology Committee or the school contact for approval to publish.
4. Upon approval, the school or parish designee will submit the document to the publisher for publication. The submitter of the document will be emailed to say the material is posted as follow-up.
5. Once approved, the document will be published within 48 hours. 6. Graphics should be optimized for size, and should not exceed 20-30k and 300-400 pixels in width. Pictures that are at the upper end of those limits should be used on pages that do not contain heavily-trafficked content. 7. Text should be short and to the point. Headings should be used to facilitate "scanning", the preferred method of reading on the web, and for accessibility purposes.
II. Deadlines for document submission: Deadlines will differ depending on the kind of material submitted. Sudden Occurrence data such as funerals will be posted as soon as possible after receipt. Articles or documents will be reviewed and edited so expect to submit 48 hours prior to need to be seen on the site.
